Emma and James’s Engagements on the California Coast

On a warm day in June, Emma and James met me just outside of San Francisco, picked me up in a little red mustang, and we spent the afternoon exploring this tiny stretch of the California coastline.

This day felt like watching a rom com in real time — I got to follow along as they danced on black sand beaches and hiked through grassy fields and through windy roads. Despite being close to the city, all we could hear were crashing waves and the sounds of geese flying above us. The wind swept Emma’s hair in every direction, James showed me how to do a proper roundhouse kick, and I was like a kid in a playground trying to snap as many photos of these two as I possibly could.

Did we accidentally lock the keys in the trunk of this car at the end of our session? Sure did. But did we eventually pull them out with a tree branch and experience a memory that will tie the three of us together forever? Yep.
