Gianna and Wyatt’s Wedding in the Wind River Mountains
Gianna and Wyatt held a camp wedding out in the Wind River Mountains of Wyoming, deep out in the field of his father’s ranch. They invited their friends and family to bring their tents and camper vans and spend a whole weekend with them, and this is how it went.
As soon as we arrived at the ranch that morning, it was clear that this wedding was a labor of love. During our walkthrough of the land, we saw so many people down in the ceremony space helping to put everything together. Gianna’s mom and niece were out in the field collecting sage cuttings for the tables. Out by the reception tent, a few friends were making floral arrangements or setting the decor.
On the other side of the hill, the rest of their guests were all just hanging out with one another, taking advantage of this rare time where they all got to be in the same place. Some of their friends were sitting together among one of the dozen camper vans parked at the top of the hill, taking in the mountain views on every side. Others were sharing snacks by the house or drinking beers in the garage.
Meanwhile, Gianna got ready in the attic with all of her closest friends. Downstairs, Wyatt and his groomsmen tied their ties in the garage and shared a celebratory beer. Afterwards, we all hiked out to the field where Gianna got to show off her stunning, custom made dress to her to-be husband for the first time.
Out in the field, Gianna and Wyatt shared their vows under the shade of some cottonwood trees. It was so sweet watching the way they threw their heads back in perfect synchrony when they laughed — like a mirror, reflecting off of one another. I caught a similar moment between Wyatt and his dad just after the ceremony, looking out at their guests. This photo made me smile, seeing how clearly Wyatt resembles his dad from the near identical facial expression they’re making.
After the ceremony, the guests got to enjoy some homemade inari sushi made by the mother of the bride. In lieu of a classic cocktail hour, guests were invited to play ping pong, jump rope, or just simply walk through the field and enjoy the views. Meanwhile, Gianna and Wyatt celebrated by rolling around in the grass with their dog then hopping on some dirt bikes for a little sunset joyride. We took a lap around the property then made it back just in time to catch the most perfect, golden light hitting the reception tent and all of their guests inside.
After the most incredible barbecue dinner, they partied the night away. Guests made up their own dances, at least seven shot skis were executed, chess(?) was played, babies were lifted Simba-style, and it was the perfect end to a perfect day.
